The perfect balance of general language development and exam preparation to ensure maximum success in CAE:-

COURSE CONTENT
Part A – 10 lessons progressive language development & practice based mainly on coursebooks to give structure and direction to the process of language learning
Part B – 10 lessons ‘active communication skills’ - lessons which focus on the individual skills of communication – listening, speaking, reading and writing – to ensure rapid progress in the ability to understand and use English accurately in real situations.
Part C – (first period of course – until final 6 weeks before course end date) - 5 lessons per week intensive grammar to give additional support and guidance to achieve greater accuracy in English.
Part D – (final period of course – the final 6 weeks up to the course end date) - 5 lessons per week intensive examination practice & guidance to fully prepare for CAE.
Part E - 5 lessons per week teacher-guided self-access study, computer-assisted learning, listening and pronunciation practice under the guidance of a senior teacher. NOTE: there are plenty practice papers and self-study materials available in this session for CAE preparation; there is also the possibility to consult CAE teachers on a 1-to-1 basis during this lesson.

CLASS SIZE
During the academic year, the maximum class size is 6 students for all taught parts of the course. In summer morning classes only are max. 8 per class.

ASSESSMENT
This course leads to the examination chosen by the individual student, though it is NOT compulsory to take the examination at the end of the course; all participants will also be given a certificate issued by Severnvale Academy which gives a clear statement of English level - both functionally (communication level) and structurally (grammar level). These levels are assessed through continuous assessment and/or formal testing.
