Business English is a part of English for specific purposes and can be considered a specialism within
English language learning and teaching. Many non-native English speakers study the subject with the
goal of doing business with English-speaking countries, or with companies located outside the Englishspeaking world but which nonetheless use English as a shared language.
In Business English course you learn specific vocabulary and perform tasks to practice applying those
using English. These include preparing for presentations, conducting negotiations and meetings,
understanding job profiles and marketing, and corresponding through writing proposals and emails.
Furthermore, students are also given a chance to boost their communicative confidence by
strengthening their general skills needed to meet the challenges of using English in the business world.
Learning Goal
The Business English program aims to help students grow into business professionals by acquiring
essential English skills for job application or workplace. Students enrolled in this program learn
vocabulary and expressions used mainly in the business process as well as the fundamentals in creating
presentations, conducting meetings, negotiating deals, and drafting documents (e.g., business letters)
in English.
